Becoming a Christian is more than a simple 3 (or 12) step program. It is a journey, a process that involves many steps and experiences, as well as the invisible hand of God guiding events. God is at work in you, drawing you to Himself.
Check out Alpha, a program at Hope Church designed to help people learn more about Christianity.
Jesus came to bring us back to God. He outlined the way a person comes back to God, a process we try to simplify with using the letters of the alphabet, the ABC’s of becoming a Christian.
- I Admit that I am a sinner, and that I need Jesus to save me from the penalty and power of my sin. (Repent)
- I Believe in Jesus as my Savior; I believe that I am God’s child through faith in Him, and that His Spirit lives in me. (Believe)
- I Commit myself to obeying Jesus as my Lord, to serving Him with my life, and to actively sharing in the work of His church. (Follow Me)
These words can also be read in the form of a prayer:
Lord Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner, and that I need You to save me from the penalty and power of my sin!
Lord Jesus, I believe in You as my Savior; I believe that I am God’s child through faith in You, and that Your Spirit lives in me!
Lord Jesus, with Your help, I commit myself to obeying You as my Lord, to serving You with my life, and to actively sharing in the work of Your church. Thank You, Lord Jesus, Amen.
A person may pray this anytime, but we recommend talking with someone about these things. If you would like to know more, or just share your journey with someone, feel free to contact us at the Church. We would love to be a part of your journey back to God!
In His Hands,
Pastor Norm
